The iconic Speedy from Louis Vuitton is now available with a true shoulder strap, making it more closely resemble its Keepall progenitor. In the photograph the strap does not appear long enough to be worn cross body, but there is another length of strap included, which will make it much longer. At $1070 not to bad.



HERMES SELLS STAKE IN JEAN PAUL GAULTIER TO PUIG

Barcelona based Puig has acquired a 60% stake in the Jean Paul Gaultier brand, 45% from former holder Hermès and an additional 15% from Mr. Gaultier himself. Puig has been a leader in the prestige fragrance market with the Comme des Garçons and Prada fragrance licenses. Puig also holds interests in Nina Ricci and Carolina Herrera.

We can look forward to an expansion of the existing and extremely successful fragrance brand of Jean Paul Gaultier with hopes that his new partner will continue to support his creativity in both his Haute Couture and RTW labels.

The move to sell its interest in Jean Paul Gaultier by Hermès undoubtedly comes at a time when Hermès is focusing its efforts to fight the aggressive (and quite controversial) acquisition of over 20% of Hermès shares by Bernard Arnault of LVMH.

Swizz Beatz x Reebok Classics Limited Edition Kamikaze

Swizz Beatz was recently announced as Creative Director of the Reebok Classics brand and will be influencing all aspects of the line, including creative campaigns and product. The first release from this new lineup is the Limited Edition Kamikaze, set to drop on Friday, May 13 in a run of 84 pairs. Additional drops are slated to make their way come July 2011. Each pair of this special run will come numbered 1 to 84, personally signed by Swizz Beatz. Only seven retailers in the U.S. will be carrying the sneaker, including: Footaction at Greenspoint Mall (Houston), Sportsland (Chicago), Underground Station (Atlanta), Sneakervilla (Philadelphia), Sportie LA (Los Angeles), Jimmy Jazz (Brooklyn) and DrJays (NYC). Balmain names successor to Christope Decarnin

Since news broke of Christophe’s departure, speculation has been that his successor would be filled.. internally.

The New York Times reports..

"The new era at Paris’s sex-charged fashion house Balmain is beginning to take shape, with 25-year-old Olivier Rousteing (below) being tapped as the label’s new designer. Rousteing, who joined Balmain in 2009 and is currently in charge of women’s wear, replaces Christophe Decarnin, who left earlier this month due to strategic disputes with chairman Alain Hivelin. Before joining Balmain, Rousteing worked for five years at Roberto Cavalli, which should serve him well in delivering the decadent rock-inflected glamour that became the label’s trademark under Decarnin."
