BARNEYS NEWEST CO-OP OPENS IN BROOKLYN

NEW YORKOct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Credited by many in the industry with revolutionizing the contemporary fashion market, Barneys New York is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the CO-OP concept. During the month of October all Barneys stores will participate in the celebration with a special CO-OP mailer, re-designed shopping bag, national print advertising campaign, and elaborate window displays featuring reminiscences about the CO-OP from top designers.
In tandem with the 25th anniversary of CO-OP, Barneys New York has commissioned an extensive array of exclusive merchandise. Twenty-four designers for women, and seventeen designers for men created limited edition pieces including 3.1Phillip LimAlexander Wang, A.L.C., CO-OP brand, Levi's Vintage Clothing, Moleskine, Porter, Rag & Bone, Raleigh Denim, Super, Swash, Vena Cava, VPL and many more. In addition to brand new items, there will also be updated pieces from original designs that debuted at Barneys CO-OP over the years such as a re-issued striped sweater from Rogan and a denim jacket from the first Marc by Marc Jacobs collection. For details on each product in the special CO-OP 25 collection, please visit www.Barneys.com.
Coinciding with the celebration of CO-OP's 25th birthday, Barneys will be opening a new CO-OP in Brooklyn, NY today at 10:00 AM. The 10,000 square foot store on two levels is located in the historic landmark district of Cobble Hill on the border with Boerum Hill and downtown Brooklyn and will carry the entirety of the CO-OP anniversary collection.
The Barneys CO-OP concept originated in 1985 and is considered to be a mecca for emerging designers looking to break into the industry. Over the years, CO-OP has been the go-to destination for designs that are unique and reflective of individual style.
"When I joined the company 25 years ago the CO-OP was just beginning. It was all about creativity and self-expression, an alternative to the big designer brands. Over the last quarter of a century the CO-OP has become synonymous with a certain New York downtown sensibility. It's always 'downtown' even when it's uptown," said Simon Doonan, Barneys New York's creative director.
There are now 21 Barneys CO-OP stores across the country. With the introduction of the Brooklyn store, New York City shoppers will be able to expand their Barneys CO-OP experience beyond Manhattan.
Transportation to Brooklyn CO-OP:

The newest Barneys CO-OP is located at 194 Atlantic Avenue (Between Court St. and Clinton St.). The closest subway stops are Borough Hall (2, 3, 4 and 5 lines) or Hoyt-Schermerhorn (A, C, G lines).
